Front Exhaust Bracket, Do We Really Need It?
Post Body

2010 FX35 AWD Question:

This past winter was a crazy loud rattle coming from my catalytic converter area and i was concerned they were going out on me.... after further inspection, i noticed that that front exhaust bracket, which is connected to the heat shield of the catalytic converters was rotted and broke off which was rattling really loud.... I ordered the part and installed... now my question is....

  1. do we really need this bracket? i don't see it holding anything up... and 2., I've bolted and mounted it, but the parts where it connected to the heat shield were rotted and cracked off... so now its basically bolted on but not connected to the heat shield sides.....

see photos for illustration:

Can i leave it like this? How can i fix this is i wanted to?
