Hey all!
I posted this over at /r/headphoneadvice a little while ago, but then I realized that it might not be the best idea to ask for IEM advice on a headphone sub, even though there is a flair for IEMs there.
So basically, I love the idea of getting some Planar Magnetic/Electrostatic IEMs, because I want that super hyper detailed sound without having ear bleedingly elevated highs, like the DT 1990 Pro, and I think perhaps IEMs are the way to go. I've always heard that headphones are great for imaging/soundstage, and that IEMs were more detailed since they went directly into your ear, so that is my thought process here.
The problem is, I just hate that feeling of my ears being plugged up. I feel like when talking on Discord, for example, I'm talking into my own skull. Hence why I love open-backed headphones. But, from what I can tell, a majority of IEMs are closed back, and isolate sound. There is only one IEM that I'm aware of which might actually meet my criteria, and that's the Raptgo Hook X, but I don't think Crinacle has reviewed them, and he's my IEM guy, so I'm hesitant t oget those.
SO, with that being said, am I just screwed here, or are there any IEMs which actually do have open-backed designs that I'm just unaware of? I want to get something that's Planar/Electrostatic because that's my favorite driver type, as I love the plucked detailed quality of it, and I think some Planar/Electrostatic IEMs would be an incredible experience.
Would love to know what you guys think! If there's a thread where I should be posting this, please do let me know, and I will correct my mistake. <3
