Would a software engineering degree be useful in the field?
Post Body

Hi!! Iā€™m an IE undergrad student taking a ā€œcoding for engineersā€ class and it's caused me to start thinking about pursuing coding more formally. I've been interested in computer science before, but I was discouraged by the networking/ hardware aspects. But in this class, I'm realizing that I'm a lot better at picking up a new language than most of my classmates.

I've been pretty drawn towards the human factors/ logistics side of IE. Would adding a software engineering degree to my IE one aid me in these positions or in my job search? Or should I not spend the extra effort to double major and just add it as a minor? It wouldn't be a ton of extra work because most of the required courses for the two majors overlap, but I don't want to get a degree that I'll never touch again.
