Was my coworker pretending?

Post Body

I have a coworker who is from Bangladesh. She is older and we are both females. How this all started is that I always smile at her. She said, "You always smile at me and I don't know why." Lately, I noticed something. Like she is making excuses to spend time with me.

I saw her on the way to work walking. She was with her daughter who I met for the first time. She introduced me. She said something to her daughter in her language. Her daughter translated it and said, "She is asking why you are always smiling. " Then I was too shy to walk with them and walked away from them.

They followed me and the daughter asked me if we can walk together because they didn't know how to get there. I found it impossible that they didn't know how to get to work. My coworker is weak in english and maybe she advised her daughter to tell me that they were lost so it wouldn't be obvious. I ended up not walking with them. My coworker looked sad.

Then one time while we worked together, she acted clueless and asked me several times where things belonged instead of looking on her own. During break, she sat down next to me. I got up shortly because my break was over. She said, "Are you leaving?"

She has asked me if I am married. Was she pretending to be lost and in need of my help to enjoy a walk with me for a moment? Does she want to be friends?
