TL;DR: Story about homeless man in Broadripple coming up to our porch.

Had an odd interaction with a homeless man yesterday. He walked up to our porch while I was potting my mums. I've interacted with this guy twice before.

One time my (girl) friend and I were walking back from Broadripple park and he mumbled something at us that sounded like he was asking for a lighter and we said we didn't have one. Then when we walked away it sounded like he was shouting at us, maybe cursing us out. Last weekend another (guy) friend and I saw him by Biscuits and we think he asked us for water so we went inside and got him some. He would try to talk to us but he would speak in a whisper and he was very hard to hear, then when we'd move to leave or tell him we couldn't hear him he would yell "LISTEN!" and he kept wanting us to stay and sit down and listen to him even though we couldn't understand him. I think I heard him say something about his black friends telling him not to hang out with white people and something about Church or something?

Well yesterday he comes up to my porch and he sees the folger's container with used cigarettes in it and asks me if he can have one...I was like..."uhh yeah sure but they're already smoked." So he takes one and then sits there and talks to me and asks what's going on with the highschool and if I know any of these people (he lists a bunch of people that I assume worked at the high school at one point) and I was like no, then he was asking how old I was and where I went to college and what my degree was. It was normal conversation but I was weirded out because I am pretty sure this guy has some mental problems and I don't know what kind and I don't like that he knows where I live and is asking personal questions. So I got up to throw the plastic mums container away and then took my dog inside and my boyfriend and his brother and some of their friends were over and they'd noticed that this guy was talking to me on the porch. I was like "[Boyfriend], I need to water these mums, will you come out here with me?" because I did need to water the mums and I didn't think the guy was necessarily dangerous but I didn't want to be out there alone anymore with him asking me questions about who I was. So he's starting to walk away and [boyfriend] says it's okay for me to go back out there so I do, but the guy had just walked to the street so he walked back. Then the guy asked if I could sit and talk for a while and I said "I have friends over right now, so I'm kind of busy." Then he was asking for my name and I was just like "Where the 'f' are you [boyfriend]?" in my head and then finally [boyfriend's brother] and his friends come out to smoke so I feel more comfortable about that and he bums a cigarette off of one of our friends. Then he starts singing or something and gets really loud and it started out as words but became these sort of howling noises. He also starts hopping/dancing and it's just kind of weird and the neighbors start looking around everywhere and we started to consider calling the cops because he was being loud and we didn't know how long he intended to stay around but eventually he just left.

So yeah, that was weird. Wondering if anyone has had anything similar happen to them and if I should be concerned that this guy might remember who I am and where I live, but I'm not too concerned. I think maybe he's been in the area because there's a small vegetable garden in the apartment complex and I think he takes some of the vegetables but no one cares because no one's been harvesting from it lately besides squirrels. Usually the homeless stay over on the monon or broadripple park though, so I was a little weirded out that he came up to the porch.
