GREP style help for index entry

Hey folks, trying to apply a character style to my index entries. The index entries that I want to target all have a signifier: (HS), (PD), (F), (S), or (NA). I want to apply a character style to these signifiers.

Some entries also have other words in parenthesis (ie can't just target text in parenthesis)

I don't have a great grasp on grep but was trying to do a positive look ahead to do this however it's not working and I'm not sure why. I feel like one of these should work? \(. \) ~.~.\d (?=/r) \(. \)(?= ~.~. \d /r) but nothing comes up.
