Help with patterns

Hello! I´m very new to InDesign and Adobe programs in general but I have to use them for an assignment. I have a pattern on Illustrator, that I made myself with vectors. However when I try to use it on InDesign the quality gets ruined and it looks very pixelated, just like in the photo. I´ve tried using copy/paste and also directly placing the native (.ai) document in my InDesign document, but both methods are unsuccessful. Is there any way I can prevent this from happening?
