Basically, I'm wondering how I could do something, anything really, to make the world a better place for people like us. Especially since i feel like a lot of cookie cutter advices regarding activism- calling politicians, encouraging people to vote someone who supports your cause, etcetera- don't really apply here, and other then that I'm pretty lost as to what you can do to make a difference. I'm pretty new to this stuff so even relatively basic advice is very much welcome.
Just remember that you don't have to change the world in order to make a positive change: there are lots of us out there (I'm one of them) who have been living for YEARS with this weighing on them, and to have even ONE person to talk to can make a big difference. To have that kind ear on the other end of the keyboard saying "Yeah, it's fine. I get you."
We have been given a beautiful gift: the gift of family love. And we have to help foster it to make sure it doesnt die. Sometimes that means approaching your children and trying to let them know that this is a welcoming life choice, so it doesn't just end with you and your partner. And sometimes that's calling a congressman. Or sometimes it's just venting on someone so you don't say anything mean to your partner. And SOMETIMES it's even just making a friendly reply on a post, and reminding someone they're not alone.
Because alot of us DO feel alone. And that feeling isn't going to go away quickly. It takes constant support and (sometimes) a little bit of elbow grease.
