Cinemark 17 posted their showtimes today for Dune 2 and listed them to be playing in IMAX 2D. I called the theatre to ask if they would have any showings in 70mm and the manager said that their 1570 projector is still broken from their run of Oppenheimer this past summer. I asked if they had any plans of getting the projector fixed prior to Dune's release, but he said that seemed unlikely. They have a repair ticket request for the projector, but it looks like no one has come out to fix it. He said to check back closer to the films release and that they could maybe switch over to the 70mm format if someone comes out to fix it between now and then, but I'm sure the odds of that are slim. Praying that they get a repair team out there in time, sucks to see that giant screen get wasted like that.
Wanted to confirm - you watched at Stonebriar?
Don’t IMAX viewings usually include the good Dolby sound?
I’m seeing at it the IMAX AMC Stonebriar.
Noooo!!!! I’m so disappointed ☹️

Agreed on less comfortable seating. Really wish Stonebriar would update those seats. My butt starts to go numb and the arm rests are so low it seems like they are broken.
For Avatar: Way of the Water, I was not sitting in those seats for that long, so I chose the Dolby theatre with the reclining seats. I cared more about the 3D than IMAX.
For Oppenheimer I bit the bullet and chose IMAX. Worth it. I’m sure Dune 2 will be as well!
