Anyone remember playing Starcraft Diplomacy in original starcraft/broodwar?
I loved that game and played it all the time. I imagine I could load up broodwar and potentially still find people who play it (and if you know a community for it feel free to hit me with that), but I was wondering if there are other games like it.
Note:
- I enjoy the fact that you start as a small country (especially hard runs as ireland or portugal) and then attempting to get as big and bigger than everyone else through skill.
- Coincidentally I don't actually like diplomacy (as in its actual definition) that much, and like how the custom game revolves around just becoming a big nation and getting special units and slaughtering people. A little diplomacy is fine, like grouping with other players or like Sid Meier's Civilization level diplo.
- I like the fast paced action (being starcraft after all)
- I like how when you first start playing it you get absolutely dumpstered, but as you play it your skill increases and you can outplay/cheese the AI/your opponents
- I said it above, but I'll reiterate for emphasis: I really like how each nation has a special unit and as you take them over you can then build their special unit.
INB4 Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis
I'll probably try to play these two again at some point, but they are more slower paced and more menu heavy than I would like, based on my limited experience. I like the combat side of diplo a lot: fast, intricate, thinking on your toes in a non-turn based system.
If you have a game that breaks a rule or two stated above feel free to recommend it anyway, my most played game on steam is Civ 5 so I'm sure I'll like it regardless.
