Repair issue with involving plastic housing of ice maker
So I have a whirlpool French door style refrigerator (Whirlpool WRX735SDHV) that has the icemaker in the refrigerator section in the upper left-hand corner and the ice is dispensed through the door. We had been having some problems with the icemaker stopping and we found that if we defrosted it it would start working again. I usually would use a hairdryer to do this process. However, one of my loved ones, decided to do it on their own and instead of holding the hairdryer and moving it around so that the airflow was not on one point, they wedged it into the ice maker “tube” that the icemaker fits into and managed to heat up the plastic enough that it formed a bubble. The design of this icemaker is such that the entire back section of it fits snugly into the tube of the ice maker plastic “tube”. Now that this bubble has occurred it’s blocking the back section of the icemaker from coming forward which means I cannot remove it to work on it much less replace it. I checked with a repair company and unfortunately it is part of the body of the refrigerator and cannot be replaced.
So I need any advice on how I can heat up that section of the icemaker tube and reform it back so that I can remove the icemaker itself. So I’m looking for someone who has experience working with the plastic walls of a refrigerator themselves if there’s anyone out there like that.
