After trying countless stimulants and realizing it takes me hours to wake up, my sleep doctor 2 years later decided to try a cpap with me...my AHI(mean amount of times i stop breathing) is very mild...5.6 and my machine can reduce it to 0 depending on the day...the highest I've seen is 2.5...needless to say I have not woken up refreshed when the sun is rising in 8 or so years. I do have anxiety and trauma and they can mentally add to the fatigue and it is finals week so I'll report back in a few weeks to see what it's like using 100-200mg of modafinil and the machine without excessive stress but it's working! And I am happy. I do have ideopathic hypersomnia but maybe mine isn't so neurological...I still get sleepy in the day but a 15-30 minute naps with my cpap solves the issue...so much so that I like staying home to do school work when the issue arises...modafinil is still hit or miss but I started walking outside so much out of joy to see the sun so early that I lost 25 lbs in a couple of weeks(I've always had a fast metabolism and was a former athlete in high school but mood stabilizers and excessive sleep caused me to put on a lot a few years later even if I dont loo the part)...im excited for the summer to see how much more I can do...I was scared about the rest of college and law school but not anymore...I can really focus on therapy more..my machine is ibreeze 20A by the way and I use the nasal pillow because the actual mask is uncomfortable all us patents by Phillips are on recall rn but I love it! Anyone with mild- moderate sleep apnea should try a new study and see if the cpap helps with waking u up! For me that was the major part of the battle...I still gotta work on the stimulant issue and I may go back to concerta! Anyways YAY
Tldr: I have mild sleep apnea (barely meets threshold) and ideopathic hypersomnia (which could easily be narcolepsy in another study according to my sleep doc)
