WTH??? New NIH guidelines?

When did they slip this in on us? Apparently the new NIH guidelines for a diagnosis of idiopathic hypersomnia include an MSLT with an average sleep latency less than or equal to 8 minutes AND a minimum sleep time of 11 hours out of 24 backed up by a PSG or a week-long actigraphy indicating same.

I just got this information from someone in this sub. Apparently some patients are being diagnosed according to these standards, with one doctor making note that "things used to be more lenient".

No Sleep clinic is going to do a 24-hour PSG and I've been told so by a doctor. Maybe the actigraphy will bear it out but I have my doubts. And we are being subject to a standard based on the MSLT, a test which has been declared worthless my doctor Emanuel Magnot. What is this BS?

I am sorry but this looks like political tweaking to me. Who does this serve? What percentage of previous IH patients does this knock out of the box? I am not happy.

EDIT:LOOK WHAT BING AI GAVE ME FROM THE ICSD -- According to the International Classification of Sleep Disorders (ICSD-3), the following 6 criteria must be met for a diagnosis of idiopathic hypersomnia (also termed idiopathic CNS hypersomnolence by the ICSD-3): Daytime lapses into sleep or an irrepressible need to sleep on a daily basis, for at least 3 months ยน. Is there anything else you would like to know about this topic?
