Many subreddits exist that deviate from the norm. I run two of which that act like directories for new groups or servers for third-party platforms. One of the biggest problems we face is vote manipulation as the default post sorting is always "Hot."

For subreddits which may focus on new news, directories, or other information that need show the newest posts rather than the highest voted, I would like to suggest one of the following:

1. Give subreddits a setting where the mods may choose to set the default post sorting to something other than Hot, such as new. (Preferred)
2. Give subreddits a setting to disable voting. I would prefer option 1, however, as one of the core features of reddit is the voting/karma system. I just wish it didn't negatively affect both posting and their subreddits.

If the mods would please consider one of these options, especially as they would be optional settings, it would help immensely. Additionally, if you're a user that has had similar problems in your subreddit, or you have other ideas for solutions, please feel free to share!
