I think everyone would agree that being able to 'have the last word' and then block someone is unfair. In this way one can make a claim and then remove the ability for the other person to refute it.
Please check your data and see how often people are 'responding, then blocking'. If you don't want to see someone or for them to see you, why are you replying before hitting block?
I would ask that if someone utilizes the block function that the last message they sent in a conversation with the blockee be removed or a disclaimer added to it.
I think this would alleviate a great deal of frustration people are having with the block function being abused.
