Story idea: I was thinking about consciousness transplants into another human for immortality

So if someone has a disorder like schizophrenia, and they have their mind wiped and have someone else's consciousness inserted, that new consciousness would have suddenly have schizophrenia right? And just suddenly having that would probably mess someone up. So I thought about a dad that was about to die from some illness and they wiped their sons mind who they didn't really love anyway. The son hid his disorder from the family and the dad ends up going insane.
