HHO/speeduino modified Kei truck
Post Body

One of my buddies and I were discussing going in on a kei truck together for off-road camping/hunting. Weā€™ve been throwing ideas around for aesthetic modifications that weā€™d like to make to suit that end.

I havenā€™t run this idea by my buddy yet, but does anyone have thoughts on the following: 1. Swap the ECU with a speeduino (or other aftermarket ecu) to try to maximize the power and efficiency. 2. Install an HHO system to try and augment the fuel system to stretch fuel a little more and add a LITTLE more power (not expecting much).

What little research Ive done on HHO seems to conclude that the improvements are negligible due to the computerā€™s compensating for ā€œrunning richā€. My hope is that using a speeduino I can offset those changes. I found a YouTube video where a guy installed a cement mixer motor in a car and got it up to freeway speed with a speeduino. Granted, acceleration SUCKED, but Iā€™m hoping if implemented correctly, the kei truck MIGHT be able to get to a Freeway speed; not that I can legally take it on the fwy.

Anyone have any thoughts/insight I may have overlooked? Yes I recognize that financially itā€™s overkill and will require various aftermarket modifications to accommodate sensors, but I ask you to indulge me in my little ā€œwhat ifā€¦?ā€ game
