Hey all!
I hope you guys are doing well and staying safe.
I’ve been making ice creams at home for a while now and I’ve been really enjoying it. I was thinking of making it a side gig during the summer. My only concern is the cost of the items vs the profit. I’ve been calculating the cost of my ingredients and it sums up around $10-13 $5-$6.50 per pint (I’m using a creme anglaise recipe: 250mL whole milk, 250mL heavy cream, 4 eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla). Most of the ice cream shops and independent stores sell a pint for $9.99 so I want to sell mine for the same price, I’m just afraid I won’t be getting any kind of profit. What are your ways to cut your costs? Any advice on a startup ice cream business would be appreciated!
Thank you! :)
Edit: made a mistake on pint pricing
