This is my haul. Slim pickings at Whole Foods but I got to try Alec’s as well as the infamous VL Earl Grey Tea flavor! B&J choc fudge brownie is a classic…got that as a safe bet. Was pretty excited about all of my choices.
Very underwhelmed by Alec’s. I respect the high quality but all 3 were very bland. What is Alec’s signature flavor? Glad I didn’t pay full price!
I’m not even a tea drinker, but I really loved VL’s Earl Gray tea. The texture and subtle flavor is outstanding. Did not care for ice cream cake although the flavor was as advertised. call me crazy I’m just not a fan of icing. (Not a fan of sprinkles either and feel like those very easily could’ve been added to this flavor.)
My take away is I enjoy VL ice creams so long as I’m not getting a cheesecake flavor—those flavors are ruined by the homemade graham crackers that have overpowering cinnamon. Ben & Jerry’s is always a safe bet. It will be a while before I buy another Alec’s. Will wait for a sale and not buy these 3 flavors again.
The earl grey is one of my top ice creams of all time
