Is it bad for me to not get blood work done for my digestive issues?

Post Body

Last time I talked to my doctor, I got emotional talking about my digestive issues and how scary they were for me. Well, it’s been 6 months and just got a call from a nurse asking if I still wanted to do the blood work (to rule out anything serious). I said no because despite having some issues, my fear around needles is much higher than my fear of digestive issues. I can’t help but feel like I’m being cowardly. Is it really all that bad if I never get a diagnosis and just learn to live with it? My symptoms are not nearly as bad as some of the people on this subreddit (18F if that’s relevant).
