Post Body

I had to go off of Viberzi (the FAA doesnā€™t approve it) a few weeks ago. Initially I had increased movements and they were less together after stopping . Viberzi kinda helped but wasnā€™t a miracle cure. I upped my Metamucil from one tablespoon at night to one at noon and one at midnight. The first week I did this was not fun - just increased the amount of loose stool I had. But after I took immodium for two days when it was particularly bad, for the last five days Iā€™ve had Bristol 4s some even bordering on 3s! No immodium. I still go at least twice a day if not three times a day but itā€™s at least itā€™s solid now. Iā€™ve also been passing a normal amount of gas - itā€™s like the bacteria have something to eat with the ā€œprebioticsā€ now. I used to not have any gas at all. Iā€™ve been taking fiber but I guess just not enough. My stools are darker now and not just bright yellow (colestipol didnā€™t work when I tried it so it wasnā€™t bile malabsorption).

My guess is that I probably have some kind of gut flora imbalance in addition to vagus nerve issues. So I guess my advice to anyone with bad ibs - d is to just up the fiber until you find a dosage that feeds the bacteria in your gut enough to do their job. Just be prepared for it to get worse for a bit before it get better. (I donā€™t have any food triggers just stress)

Iā€™ve also been dealing with life and especially work stresses ets better, which is a constant battle. I donā€™t want to jinx myself but I guess I have to just mainline -soluble- fiber.
