Recently joined as an already registered apprentice previously working non union. Haven't done my first job yet, but my work order has been sent to the hall and I'm hoping to call the hall and get dispatched next monday.
I like working with gloves and ear plugs, working non-union, I'm of course used to supplying my own. Same goes for kneepads. I don't have access to the cba, so I don't know what the specific phrasing is, but I've heard that ppe is expected to be provided by the contractor, excluding work boots and a hard hat (anyone know if this includes hi-viz stuff). Is that right?
What are the chances that these will be provided to me on my first day at a job site? I would guess that the firm doesn't have that stuff stored away in some storage locker on the job site (is that right?), and it would be something that someone would have to bring in from the office, is that right? My plan was to bring my own gloves, ear plugs, and knee pads until I am literally handed them by the firm (assuming its something they provide).
I'd want to keep my head down as a new apprentice so if they don't provide any after I ask, I don't want to cause a fuss on my first day of work, and I'd keep using my own. I know there is a tool list and I will be following that to the letter, but is there a ppe list?
