I applied to 353 as a registered non-union apprentice and was told on May 18 that my application has been accepted, but that I will have to be patient as work has slowed down coz of various strikes.
I heard that work was real busy several months ago. Around 15 out of 25 of the provinces ici trades have reached an agreement now, and I was wondering if anyone noticed if things have started to pick up. Has the apprentice job list started moving?
I also got accepted through the general intake on june 6 (applied to that in September before I started working non-union) but I'd like to avoid that if possible because of the 1800 hour pre-apprenticeship period, and coz they may not accept all my hours. From what I've heard from others, I should expect around 5-6 months between when I'm told im accepted into the general intake and when I'm put on the job through the general intake. Would you say it's likely I get called up through the already registered apprentice path before that?
