Is it possible to go from a sponsored apprenticeship to one with the JAC (local 353)

I'm currently in the middle of an application with 353, and even if I get in I know I can expect to wait another few months before I'm on the job.
In the meantime, if I were to apply with one of the local contractors, get hired, and hear back from the Jac, would there be any problems with me being accepted into the Jac program?
edit: i called the training allliance and asked, and was told to do one or the other, not both.
