Weekly Challenges 2023-04-19: 2020 Summer Olympics Medals
Post Body

Thank you to everybody who took part in last week's challenge.

New Moderator:

Unfortunately, I must step down from the moderator role or at least diminish my involvement. If anybody is interested, please message me, and then we will have the community vote for the new moderator.

Team Championship:

Please add your name to this file or message me if you want to join this new tournament.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1R6ciBv_qJYGJM-U-V8h7EUSXoEmXkr29/edit#gid=1208144520

I haven鈥檛 received that many entries for this tournament, so I hope more will come. The dates are on hold until a new moderator is appointed, as I won鈥檛 have the time to run this by myself.

Note: If you notice that you are missing any or have extra medals, please send me a message, and I will correct it.

Congratulations to the medallists:

Your flairs have been awarded.

The special flair was awarded to yourrabbithadwritten, who had 54 cities starting with N.

This week's challenge was suggested by Ok_Quail_3657. The challenge is to name cities based on the country's number of medals in the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Rules:

路 The territories are considered as separate entities and not part of their dependent countries.

路 The maximum number of cities per country has to be the same as the total medals obtained by that country in the 2020 Summer Olympics.

路 Follow this link in order to find out how many cities per country you can add: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_Summer_Olympics_medal_table

路 The number in the Total column is the one to look for.

路 ROC is Russia

This week's medal criteria are as follows:

Gold: 700 cities

Silver: 500 cities

Bronze: 300 cities

Special flair: This week's special flair will be awarded to the person with the highest population. Only the people with the maximum number of cities, 1075, can be eligible.

Beat the moderator; my result for last week's challenge was 449, with 31 cities starting with N.

The following user beat my score. You received 1 IBTM medal.

CallMeOceanMan (474);

The current ranking for this season:

Competition Rules:

路 You must play from memory (no Google or 'every country/state' option).

路 Any format of the city name is accepted as long as one of the formats matches the above criteria.

路 I would also advise against guessing cities.

Duration:

I will post the challenges in a timeframe starting Tuesday or Wednesday in London time. You have one week to submit your results. I will still consider submissions from the next week, but you will not be considered for the special flair and IBTM.

If you want to submit your score, you must comment on this post with your link, score, and any special flair for that week.

Thank you for taking part in this challenge.

Good luck!
