Resources for learning how to race in traffic? (Draft/pack racing on 1-1.5mi ovals)
Post Body

I’m really struggling with pack racing, specifically NASCAR Trucks. I can qualify top 5-ish and in general I’m getting better at tire management. But I cannot race in a pack.

When I qualify well, I end up being a liability to the entire field when cars pass me as I drop positions so I end up opting to start in the back…

When I start my race conservatively trying to save tires, I get passed like crazy or straight up get run over and taken out of the race. When I try to start the race keeping up with everyone, I still get passed a lot but end up with really bad tire wear.

I think it’s because I don’t know how to utilize drafting for pushing nor use it for defense. I’ll also admit that racing next to so many cars sketches me out and makes me scared to push.

Where can I learn more? Any tips are appreciated. Thanks!
