I’m doing oval racing and qualify third, meaning I’m on the inside line following the leader. We all go to line up behind the pace car and the pole setter just doesn’t show up for the race. As a result I lead the inside line, in the normal position of the pole setter. I’ve gotten penalties for launching too early before, so I’m easing off the throttle to let the guy on the outside (who qualified 2nd) have the first jump. But the guy on the outside is letting me have the first move because I occupy the position of pole (this is in 1k rating anyway so he may not even know I’m not the pole setter). I could have gotten a great jump, but I have no idea if I would have gotten a penalty. What’s the rule?
