I’ve pretty much exclusively stuck to Formula cars since getting out of rookies, and my love for those roidkarts will never fade. But since earning my B license at 3AM, it occurred to me that I have a huge swath of new cars and series I’m now eligible for.
As I’ll be buying the Super Formula car shortly, and I try to maximize my every iRacing dollar, I feel like I may as well get two more cars while I’m at the car store. My idea is to get a prototype and a GT, but I’m open to suggestions. As much as trying to be a more well-rounded driver, I’m interested in experiencing a wider range of road racing. I’ve messed around with ovals and dirt, and they’re fun but I have them on a different timeline.
So what would be the easiest car/series to start with that won’t completely scramble my downforce-dependent brain? I assume formula to prototype will be a much easier change than formula to GT, feel free to disabuse me of this notion.
A couple things that may be worth bearing in mind 1. I’m trying to buy for longevity, so unless the difference is massive enough, I would prefer to avoid buying two prototypes or two GT3s, and not currently interested in GT4. 2. Since cars are less expensive than tracks, I MAY be willing to buy an extra car or two if it’s warranted. 3. I’m pretty sure all of these kinds of cars can be used in sprints and endurance races, but if there are any that are endurance-exclusive, I can’t justify those at the moment.
Thanks in advance.
