IRA or 401K or both?

Hello gurus. Iām new to the investing world. I have a 401K and my company matches 4%. I use to put 10% myself, but recently decided to go with 4% and put the difference in an IRA. Before I commit to this decision, Iād love to hear your advice, experiences or expertise. Appreciate all the help. TIA
