I just got the iPad Pro 11" as my first (non-MBP) Apple mobile device. I don't seem to understand why some ports charge the iPad and some don't.
Things that do charge it:
- Original brick and cable
- Original cable plugged into USB-C/TB3 port in my laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad P1)
- Third party USB-A to USB-C cable I use with my Galaxy S10 in the Lenovo
Things that don't charge it:
- Third party cable in third party brick/Samsung brick
- Third party cable directly into wall socket with included USB-A ports (says 5V 3.8A below it I think)
Could someone put it into a nutshell what the issue is or point me to some reading on it? My theory is that the charging protocol in the third party brick isn't compatible and the one in the wall might essentially be the same thing. And I suppose plugging it into a computer bypasses protocols since there's no brick?
Thanks!
