Hey guys,
I’m a first year university student and I’m doing a double major in mathematics and computer science (with some philosophy on the side). I was all set to get the 2018 9.7 iPad but then Apple blew me away with the new iPad Pros and I’ve been lusting after them ever since.
However, the more I think about it, the more I think that the new iPad Pros are overkill. I already have a 2017 15” MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and won’t be using the A12X Bionic to its full advantage. Most of the heavy stuff I’ll need to do can’t even be done on an iPad anyway. And I actually really liked the glossy finish of the first-generation pencil and find the new one hard to hold. Charging the pencil before wasn’t much of an issue anyway, and having used a 10.5-inch iPad Pro extensively, I can confidently say that I can’t tell the difference in Apple Pencil performance. Really I just need an iPad to complement my MacBook, not replace it, and so I’m doubting whether I actually need the extra features of the Pro. But of course, it’s SO good! How do I solve this dilemma?
Btw, how is the iPad’s performance for gaming? Can it handle Civ VI and other heavy games decently well? I’m also thinking about doing a little photo editing in Lightroom and getting into digital art with Procreate - how is it at accomplishing those tasks?
Oh and one more thing - I multitask a LOT. I usually have at least two apps open at once. I know the iPad has just 2GB of RAM, but realistically, how good is it at multitasking with two apps open (both performance and the actual experience). What about if you throw in a video in picture-in-picture too?
Thanks!!!
