A new kind of liquid damage? Could it be salvageable.
Post Body

Soooo my iPad pro 11inch( A1980 from 2020) was in my waterproof backpack (upright) sitting in a few inches of silicone lube (yeah that kind) for possibly several hours. An entire bottle emptied out into the bottom of the bag and because it’s a waterproof sealed pack, rather than just soaking into the fabric, it acted as a vessel to let the lube just chill there and it appears that it was soaked up into my iPad Pro 11in (through the button openings or the speakers maybe?) and has dispersed across the entire screen dimming it and causing these darker splotches. Because it’s silicone and not water it’s never going to evaporate or dry but it also seems like it may not be fully destructive as the iPad, for now, is fully functional and the screen is difficult to see and clearly fucked, it is perfectly responsive across the entire thing. My question is, could this be salvageable? Would replacing the screen assembly be effective solution? I’ve searched high and low and can’t seem to find any information about this unique situation. My apologies for the long post, but I felt I had the kind of lay it out. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas or suggestions? TIA!!
