Becoming knowledgeable enough to be considered a junior iOS developer...I have a few questions

Post Body

I currently work full-time as a senior product designer. I'm great at what I do and I thoroughly enjoy it, but I have always been fascinated with programming. I recently began learning Swift via Udemy with Angela Yu. I'm not very far into the program, but I'm moving along.

I have no formal education -- no college degree, only a handful of classes in completely irrelevant subjects. I'm a self-taught designer and I'll eventually be a self-taught (well, via Udemy) iOS programmer. Would that significantly restrict my ability to land a job in a place like NYC?

I was hoping that I might be more appealing to companies as a junior iOS developer down the line paired with my experience as a product designer. What are your thoughts on that?

At what point can you consider yourself a solid junior developer?
