[Exclusive] In-depth interview with iKON Bobby to release his first solo album after transfer

[Editor's note] K-pop has now become a global hit culture. Singers are at the centre of it all. The news of singers' new album releases and concerts is of great interest to fans around the world, and their every move is always a hot topic. News 1 prepared a special interview corner [Ask the Singer's Passion] in which singers directly answer 10 private yet sincere questions in order to satisfy global fans' curiosity about singers.

Bobby said with a characteristic eye smile. Bobby, who seemed to be full of happiness, did not lose his smile throughout the interview and delivered positive energy to the viewer with an active and bright appearance.

Bobby released a solo album in March, and soon has a solo Japan tour scheduled, as well as an iKON album and tour this year. Also, he plans to release his solo album for each season this year. This year, Bobby is going to be more active and busy than ever.

Bobby's group, iKon, left YG Entertainment for a long time at the end of last December and moved to 143 Entertainment. Moreover, all the members came together with one mind and transferred to the same agency without a single member missing. It was a very unusual move in the music industry. To that extent, they plan to fill the future that they will draw as an icon with affection for iKON. Bobby said with a smile, "It wasn't too hard for all the members to come together," and added, "All the members were motivated and ready to do active activities, so you can look forward to it."Bobby released a solo album after 2 years and 3 months on the 21st of last month prior to the activities of iKON. 'SiR', the first single Bobby will release after moving to an agency, contains 'Drowning' and 'Cherry Blossom'. Bobby participated in writing and composing both songs and devoted himself to the production. The title song 'Drowning' is a pop genre song that expresses the feelings of being immersed in the charm of the opposite sex. Bobby's unique rough voice and Sol's charming and dreamy tone, which he participated in as a feature, harmonized well, adding to the perfection of the music. 'Cherry Blossom' is a song that stands out with the realistic sound of guitar, bass, and drums, and is a song that captures the desperate feelings that were as beautiful as cherry blossoms through Bobby's voice.

I recently met Bobby at a studio in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul. After a serious talk with Barbie, 10 TMI questions were asked, from 'My Favorite Snack' to 'The Secret to Being Happy'.

-(Question one) Who is the artist with the most share in the playlist?

▶This is the music of Skrillex. I didn't like it from the beginning, but I'm into EDM these days, so I've been listening to it a lot.

-(Question 2) Don’t you like sweets? What is your favourite snack these days?

▶It's potato chips. (laughs) They're so moist, crispy, and salty!

-(Question 3) What is the word you say the most during the day?

▶ He seems to be sighing a lot. Frustrated? When I'm working or when the time isn't right, sighing is what I say the most (?).

-(Question 4) I am 29 years old. Do you have a new mindset about being 29 years old?

▶To be honest, I've never been this happy in my life. In the past, I thought a lot about 'I want to be happy', but now that I'm so happy, I want this happiness to continue until I die.

-(Question 5) There are many things that iKON members do for the first time. Whether it's a Japanese solo tour or a solo album. Isn't it burdensome? how about

▶Not at all. Since it's my first time doing it, I don't have time to ask for advice. I have to bump into my body, but there are many new things to learn, so it's interesting. Learning something new about something you like is always fun.

-(Question 6) You say you tend to sleep a lot. How many hours do you sleep these days?

▶If I sleep a lot, I sleep for 4~5 hours. Usually about 3 hours.

-(Question 7) While doing music shows this time, you must have received a lot of greetings from junior singers. How was it?

▶It doesn’t have to be like that. (Laughs) When I was a rookie, I was scared and embarrassed when I went to the seniors’ waiting room to say hello. It's not that I didn't like it, but it was unfamiliar and would you like it if I visited it now? I think I was a bit worried about this. But the juniors came to visit me first and said hello, so I was grateful. One of these people might not want to do it. (laughs)

-(Question 8) In the music video for 'Drowning', SF9's Hwiyoung and The Boyz's Sunwoo appear. Did she come out of the 'Kingdom' unit? Is she still close friends? I wonder why it came out.

▶ It's been 2 years, but we're still close. There is a group chat room, so I play games with Hwiyoung. She really feels more like friends than a singer colleague. The music video filming location was Yangyang, and both of my friends had schedules the next morning, so they appeared in my music video and went straight to their schedules. Thank you so much.

-(Question 9) What are you most obsessed with these days?

▶A new taste of potato chips has arrived. I got the taste of Yeopgi Tteokbokki, but it was so spicy that I was treated badly, but it was so delicious.

-(Question row) Do you have Barbie's unique skill to be happy?

▶It is to give thanks. Be grateful for even the little things. Recently, I felt that senior Noh Hong-cheol was amazing. He got hurt during the trip, but after hearing what he said, I thought he must be a real positive king. 'Where did you get this much hurt? I almost was over there (heaven)' he said. He said how lucky he is. I think it's important to think positively and live with gratitude all the time.
