Was told my Hy-Vee shirt was making my coworkers uncomfortable šŸ˜³
Post Body

So for context Iā€™m the only female (currently) working with a bunch of guys. They always tell me (the managers anyway), they think of my as ā€œone of the guysā€ which honestly feels weird and unnecessary.

Well, when I started I was only given one oversized menā€™s shirt (even though that same day at orientation they said we would at least be given 2-3 shirts for work) and I was tired of coming to work with a shirt that didnā€™t fit and having to wash it every day.

It was overpriced but I went ahead and actually ordered a shirt for women. I was excited when it came though because it actually fit me. It was obviously a different cut but I wore it for wks, no problem. Then suddenly the managers sent the only other female that works there (upfront, not directly with us), to tell me that they can see my butt crack because this shirt was shorter than the last one. I apologized and told them I could get a belt but then they started focusing on my shirt. They seriously had this poor girl stop what she was doing to hunt down a shirt in the office to ā€œcover me upā€. It was even larger than the last one (a triple large mens graphic tee), and came down to my knees. I felt ridiculous and was humiliated. One of the managers actually asked me if I asked for a ā€œshorter shirtā€ on purpose even though I explained it was a womenā€™s size large and the womenā€™s cuts are just different. Even insisting I could just get a belt and wondering why they didnā€™t say anything sooner, I feel like I wasted my money and this was the most bizarre thing to happen to me at a job ever.

To rub salt into the wound and add to my embarrassment one of the managers actually offered to pick the next shirt out for me like Iā€™m a small child. He asked my size and when I told him the size I picked he seemed annoyed and I explained that different brands fit differently.

Now Iā€™m stuck with an overpriced shirt that I canā€™t wear because they wouldnā€™t just let me get a belt and Iā€™m back to the one shirt I have to wash every day šŸ™„

Anyone else been told that their work uniform, that was bought through the company, made anyone uncomfortable?
