So my gp is in the states ( where my surgery will be held) but I've recently moved to vancouver in Canada Which is about a 15 hour drive.
Due to incredible flight anxitey and what not I'm planning on driving myself to the states 2 days before surgery to get everything ready. I do want to head back to Canada as soon as I can post op, I'm fine with driving myself but feel I might need the extra company just incase something does happen and I can't drive?
I'm mostly wondering how many days I should wait before I drive back ( first day is 10 hours, second day is 5 hours), and if finding company for the drive would be a good idea.
Edit: the operation is the davinci larparoscopic. my doctor's assistant said I'll only need about " a week or so" post op for major healing. I do have a friend who I'll be staying with that is willing to drive me back. I also do have dual citizenship which helped get me throught the border last time along with my negative covid test.
Edit edit: thank you to everyone's responses!!! I didn't expect this much of a response so it makes me very happy to see so many people ready to help care for one another.
my doctor is pretty frugal about pain killers and what not ( both a blessing and a curse), and I do sleep through most car drives pretty easy so I'm hoping for that but I am iunsure how post op check ups would go due to not being able to get insurance in Canada for a few more months
