I am in western Canada.
My gyno approved me for hysterectomy in February, and I gave my availability to be any time after Aug 15th. Back in February, gyno advised that the wait period is 30-90 days from when surgery is requested. I had assumed that as my requested date was so far in advance of 90 days, that my surgery would be around Aug 15. Of course not the exact date, but maybe within a few week window?
I have heard nothing from the hospital and when I called last week to see where I am in the waitlist they said unless I get a call itâs not my time yet. When I inquired about how much heads up notice Iâd get as I have to give my work a proper heads up, the booking lady at the hospital said simply âyouâll get enough notice dear, donât worry.â (Cue triggers from every time I ended up in ER for extreme bleeding and pain and nurses explaining to me that once a month women tend to bleedâŚwooosahhhhh. I digress). Iâm starting to feel like itâs never going to happenâŚ.
I am wondering if anyone here in Canada, or better yet the west coast, can tell me how much notice they were given from the phone call giving the booking date to the actual surgery. Please help put my anxiety to rest!
