So a bit of background info: I am 20 years old, 140lbs and 5’4 (162 cm). I am an asthmatic which is the only issue.. Throughout my life I’ve never had any issues in regards to heart or blood pressure. I also a weak immune system.
Other than two years ago when I had constant chest pains to which made me see two cardiologists and results: Normal.. Heart rate was also not bad and everything seemed fine. So we thought, maybe anixety? However, I was always having issues with being fatigue/light headed since I was 16. Causing me to just lay down. The only thing I can do to help, is take a nap. We tried doing tests once again, and everythng was normal. I gave up and it was all a mystery to me.
Fast foward to 2022, in February when I was sick with a cold, and noticed that I started feeling super lightheaded. After the lightheadedness went away, This caused my grandpa to check my blood pressure and heart rate. Boom: Both were high for the first time. It was 147 and my pulse was 123. I don’t remember the other number next to my blood pressure, but it was high for my age. I had to go to the hospital as it was concerning for me and it was my first time. We checked everything. Kidney, heart, lungs, and once again everything was normal… Im so confused, I don’t know what’s happening. The only speculations we have are: • Viral infection • Over the counter medication • Genetics (My mom, grandma, and grandpa all have hypertension)
My mom wants me to wait until I’m no longer sick and to see if the issue persists. If it does, then I’m screwed… If not, then safe to say, it was the infection.
I did read a refferal in my discharge sheet that I might have pre-hypertension given that I was never diagnosed in the past.
I hope this sub can help me out. Im worried…
