Got HLD when it came out, beat it, loved it but as someone who loves twinstick games and has done some game coding before, the decision to make the gamepad controls not utilize the right stick for aiming was absolutely baffling. I considered it the game's biggest flaw, especially since you can run and gun just fine with the mouse on PC. I hear there was support for it patched in later, but I also hear that the Switch version doesn't have this option? I want to get this game for my brother's birthday, as he's away from home for months at a time and I think he'd like it, but I also think the controls would drive him nuts if he can't use the right stick to aim. He only has the Switch with him so that's the only option. Thoughts?
EDIT okay so apparently the gamepad controls on PC are still unmappable? I just redownloaded it to test and I still can't set the controls for gamepad. And right stick still does nothing. Why would you pull out all the stops for the artwork, the sound, the narrative, the gameplay, and then mar your game with sub-par controls? Especially since the twinstick standard has been around for ages now and the PC controls allow the freedom you could have with a pad, so it's not a capability or balance issue? Is there a fan hack or patch that allows the right stick for aiming? I've been dying for years to play this game as a twinstick :(
