EDIT: okay, so it turns out that I misunderstood what an everything shower is. Now I know that most people are still washing their whole bodies every day.
And since people keep asking Iâll add it here too: yes, I do wash and condition my hair every day (double shampoo). I also use a sugar scrub to exfoliate every day and I shave (legs, pits, lady bits) most days of the week unless Iâm in a hurry or feeling lazy, and I follow up with a full body skincare routine. My showers last under 30 minutes, itâs not an all day or multi-hour thing for me. No, I do not think my showers are excessive. Yes, I do all of this and lather with my favorite smelling lotion even when Iâm not leaving the house. My hair and skin are super healthy.
And stop telling me that itâs not good for my hair/scalp to wash it everyday and that I can train my scalp to produce less oil. That is a dangerous myth that can lead to infections, fungal growth, and dandruff. Before I knew it was a myth I tried to âtrainâ my body to produce less oil but not washing it as often and it damaged my hair. I had more hair loss, horrible breakage and split ends, and it no, it never produced less oil, so it looked nasty. Now that I went back to daily washes, itâs super healthy, long, and beautiful. Just because you canât wash your hair everyday it does not mean that no one should.
ORIGINAL POST:
I take âeverything showersâ every day, thatâs how I was raised and I donât feel clean if I donât actually clean all of me. I heard the term âeverything showerâ for the first time just a couple of years ago and since then I hear people ask what they do for their everything showers all the time. Iâve never heard anyone actually explain what the alternatives are though.
So, if you donât wash everything, what ARE you washing? How do you decide what youâre going to wash that day? Did you always take showers like this or did you start doing it after you heard the term âeverything showerâ? If you didnât always do it but now you do, why?
Also, I donât want this to sound insensitive or mean or anything, I just genuinely have no idea and Iâm curious, but people who work out daily but donât wash their hair daily: does your hair not stink? Does it not feel gross/get itchy from letting your dry sweat stay in your hair?
Huh? Say what?
