Hello r/hydro,
I have recently located to a tropical climate with my family. We cook often and are looking to grow vegetables and fruit on our own to save us some money... and because it is a great hobby for us!
Background: We’ve researched through hydroponic types: wicking systems, deep water culture (DWC), nutrient film technique (NFT), ebb & flow, aeroponics, and drip systems. The two that interest us the most are aeroponics and drip systems. Aeroponics because it is proclaimed as most efficient and drip systems because they are commonly used in commercial settings. Deep water culture (DWC) is also interesting as it is “most convenient” to maintain.
Interest: We are most interested in a DIY project that is the most efficient and effective in maximizing our plant growth. We are focusing on lettuce and strawberries.
Question: What do you find are the most effective and efficient hydroponics? What plans did you use for these DIY projects? What else should we know starting up?
Thank you for your time! :)
