Full disclosure: I'm not an electrician, but I have a friend who I'm going to ask to have a look at my setup before plugging it in the first time.
I have been searching for LEDs for my closet garden for months now and have finally given in to the fact that a DIY setup is the way to go. Prebuilt lamps are way too costly, have no spec sheet or don't fit my needs. This is what I came up with:
LED strips:
3x Samsung SI-B8T521560WW 175lm/W, 4000K, 46V, 1.12A
or
3x Samsung SI-B8R521560WW 181lm/W, 5000K, 46V, 1.12A
which is better for lettuce and herbs?
Power supplcy:
HLG-120H-C1050B 74-148V, 1.05A
When wiring in series the 3 LED strips will require a total of 138V and this unit can have a dimmer attached to set desired voltage. The current is .07A under spec which will lower output slightly but improve efficiency if I undertand correctly.
Is the power supply specced correctly for these LED strips? Will they provide enough light for said lettuce and herbs at about 50cm (1 1/2 feet) distance from the system? I won't be able to move the lights so as the plants grow they will come even closer to the LEDs. Is this problematic?
Thanks!
