I am looking to get a new HVAC system for my home and I'm looking into a reversible Mini-split system. One thing I really want is to be able to heat and cool different zones at the same time, because, well, quite honestly, the wife and I have different ideas about what room temperature should be, and spend the majority of our time in different rooms from each other. Also, some rooms, like the home office (With the server rack and other heat generating devices) need to be kept *below* a certain temperature at all times, even if the rest of the house may need significant heat applied. (The servers can bring a room up 10 kelvins above the next room over easily, which on tepid days, is more than enough to have one room on heat and another on AC). So, is a Mini-Split that's capable of providing both heat and cold to the house at the same time even something I'm likely to be able to find? Or should I quit bothering with reversible heat pumps, and use a gas furnace for heat and a traditional air conditioner for cooling?
