Old AC needs repair
Post Body

I have a 3.5ton Lennox AC. It is unable to cool our house. It does help somewhat but very minimal. Every HVAC person I contact says replace it (they almost never talk about repair). Got three quotes for replacement and they range from $17-20k. Which just is not possible right now.

I’ve been told the Freon is low but R22 is no longer made. Is that true? If so, can I use some other Freon? Is there a way to just upgrade a portion of the AC to make it compatible with the modern Freon?

Thanks in advance
