We don't know a lot about A/C's so please bear with us.
Every month, we use a shop vac to suck out our AC drain line. We do this because we think we have a small crack in the drain pipe under the house (from settling) and it would get backed up. So much so that it's ruined the wood flooring in our hallway. We try to prevent any major water issues by placing a large plastic container under the handler to capture any that backs up and out when the pipe is not draining properly. Normally, we have no issues. The coils are clean, there is no ice build up, and it drains outside as it should.
Today, we sucked out the water and everything was fine. However, my husband noticed the hallway rug was wet from it being backed up again. Could we have sucked out too much water causing air to get trapped? Is there a better way to do what we are trying to do? Pics of our set up.
Thank you!
Thank you so much!
One last question (for real this time). The vent off of the T needs to be higher than the drain pan, correct?
Ok thank you that makes sense. One last question. YouTube says I need to measure the total static pressure (which I have no idea how to do) in order to get the right length parts of the trap. Is that right?
Like this? And is the blue piece capped or no cap?
Ok. That seems like that will be tight in there. I can't block getting my filter in and out. If you have a sec, can you mock something for me?
My AC drains outside by going under the house and then up through the ground. Isn't that effectively one big p trap? I read not to have two traps.
That makes sense. Could it be becuase there is no P trap?
It's the angle. It's def angled down.

Well, my husband finished his project. The first time he's ever cut some PVC. Took three trips to HD but he's done. Hopefully it's correct and we didn't just fuck up our system. But he said PVC is cheap so we will see.
