Trane xv80 not lighting consistently

I noticed that my furnace will not light consistently. When the thermostat calls for heat the inducer motor runs and I see the ignitor glow only for a few seconds before it stops glowing and the inducer motor turn off. This happens 2 more times until the furnace stops trying to light and the fan starts up and stays on.
Thinking about it, I'm guessing a bad board or bad gas valve? Am I going in the correct direction pf thought?
