Hi all,
I'm a 2015 MSU alumnus, now an Assistant Professor at Oregon State. Due to grad school, work, and COVID, I haven't been to an MSU game since I graduated. As soon as I saw this on the calendar (a Spartans game in my own backyard???), I knew I had to attend.
I sat in section 301, overlooking the East end zone...Unfortunately, most of the scoring (by the Huskies) was on the west side, but that didn't damp my enthusiasm. I had families, alumni, locals, Cougs, and tons of Spartans around me - and they were all delightful.
Your fans were fair ("tf was that roughing the passer call?" "Home cooking, sorry, that sucks") but fun (including humorous barbs when I got too sharp). They were in good spirits (and into spirits), and generous in nature. While a buddy of mine had a couple rough experiences, he's also (with love) confrontational when it comes to the Spartans, so I'm willing to let my experience be the greater influence on my time xD
Husky Stadium was beautiful, even if labyrinthine, and had excellent sightlines of the Lake, campus, and the mountains beyond. While my buddy and I agreed that the description of "the greatest setting in college football," is a liiiiittle pompous (even ignoring our own bias for MSU), it absolutely was a great setting for a game. As we Spartans say at home, "it's - a - BEAUTIFUL DAY --- for FOOTBALL!" Yesterday was absolutely beautiful as well.
Thank you for welcoming us to your lovely campus, and for being willing to have a true Home-and-Home with us. I am already looking into booking tickets back to East Lansing for next year's revenge - may it be every bit as sweet, and may we be as good a host!
PS: Hope the PAC stays strong!
