To The Hardened, Abguns Mo’ala

On This, 4th year of Our Lady, 883rd day, at the 10th hour PPS. [Pai’in’b Planetary Standard]

My Lord Mo’ala,

It is with my humblest prostrations that I report to you the status of the mission undertaken by my team and I, at your knowing behest, to the neighboring galaxy, and with my deepest apologies at its lateness in arriving to you.

3 months have passed since we had arrived at the calculated source of the sensor probe intercepted long ago, and we have found life in the most unlikely of places, Blessed Be!
Never had any of us dreamed of such an advanced species! Based upon the probes they sent to us, we expected a primitive, and ignorant race, barely out of their nests. We were not prepared to bear witness to the beings discovered in this dark corner of space.

In the System of Sol, [about 8kpc from the center of the galaxy], there exists a race of beings we have named Solarians. Small in number, only 30 billion by our estimates, they nonetheless are a source of endless wonder for my crew.We have managed to pacify and capture a number of Solarian individuals for research purposes.

They are bipedal, tall, at about 17 digits tall, (with the largest being over 20 digits!), and most remarkably, emit a steady stream of electromagnetic radiation in the form of radio waves and infrared light. So much so that, for our own safety, my crew and I have had to don protective gear when dealing with them. The need for this gear is compounded by the fact that these creatures frequently emit vibrations from their heads in excess of 125 per second! A revelation that has been costly, as unfortunately some of the crew have been stricken with an ailment we have come to refer to as Solarian Awe, due to its unique causes and acute onset.

Victims are rendered mute by radio interference with our internal systems, immobile due to interference with our gyroscopic sensors, and are blinded by the light emitted by the Solarians. While reducing exposure to Solarian subjects will allow for mobility and communication to resume unaffected, the blindness does persist, and as of this writing, none have recovered.

From my observations I’ve ascertained that they engage in frequent and persistent atmospheric alterations, changing their immediate surroundings by emitting Nitrogen, Oxigen, Carbon Dioxide, and water vapor, mostly notably. While it doesn’t seem as if they require these gasses for their survival, they nonetheless pump them out at steady and consistent rates. The vapor they produce is high in hydrogen content, and may make an excellent fuel source.

While their extreme size, and dangerous emissions may prove a difficult thing to overcome, I have no doubt that our Lords and Ladies of the High Council will have no issues finding a use for such bountiful power sources.
