Ch 3: stealing in [part 2]
[authors note: I did something different with the dialogue hop its better this way]
The lunch period lasted about 45 minutes before classes started again. However, it was mostly elective classes which because of my quick enrolment I wasn't signed up for I was told by Representative Taloin to look around at the different choices and sign up for some. Apparently, they were like school clubs back on Earth, the only difference was they lasted longer than an average class. Seeing as I have to figure out which two classes to take I decided to check out Rivera and Lunaâs first.
âSo what class do you take Rivera?â I asked. She looked down at me âHuh? Oh, I take the Ki-tal martial arts class why do you ask?â.
âwell, Iâve got to figure out what classes to join since my enrolment in this school was rushed. I didn't get the opportunity to get that done before.â she stopped at my response, her face looked a bit concerned. âUh, I don't think youâll be able to take my class, it was created by my kind, and it's pretty difficult to do with only two armsâ
âWell Iâd still like to check it out at least.âI responded. âWhat about you LuLu where are you headed to?â there was a pause before Luna responded. âLuLu?... oh is this what you humans call a nickname!?â she was definitely ecstatic at my new name for her. âWell, im headed to my Xeno-anthropology class right now but afterwards would be Holo-Programing.â
âOh cool! Iâll join you after I get through Riveras, where is it?â
Following Rivera, we reached one of the recreation Hologram rooms. It was about the size of a tennis court and filled with mostly Quintec students and a beautiful Quintec teacher. She was a reddish-pink and had an amazons look to her. Seeing her made me realize that The rest of the Quintec students were a variety of red tones including Rivera.
As the last of the students made it to class the teacher activated the hologram rooms and the whole room turned into a martial arts dojo. Taking a spectators role I stood in the back as the rest of the students changed into their uniforms. As they did so I noticed most of the girls had chest bindings on and man did they all look hot. Their outfits resembled that of a Greek Amazon skirt and a Gi that only wrapped around one shoulder. The instructor passed around bo staves to a few students before splitting them up apparently, if you were a hire level you were given the staff.
Watching them was incredible. It was amazing to watch them. it looked like karate and tie quan do with more of a focus on the four arms. The extra set made for a unique experience when watching. The students with bo staffs had more a focus on jabbing and sweeping strikes. When I asked the instructor what the staffs were she said âThe staff is to train the students in the use of spears which holds an important role in ower history and creation of Ki-tal.â âOh cool! Your cultures resemble a few of the ones found back on my homeworld. A bit of Greco-Roman mixed with a few Asian culturesâ
âHow interesting, for your kind to have developed cultures similar to ours is incredibly rare. As far as im aware the Quintec are one of only three races that have developed a form of martial arts. Im sure im not the only one of my kind interested in studying your martial arts. Perhaps you could bring me some records of them next time you visit?â she asked.I agreed to get a few records together by next week as thanks for letting me watch the class and interrupt to ask questions.
Rivera walked with me to Lunas class but before we left the holo dojo she asked âif you don't mind, could I also see some of those martial arts?â I laughed a little as she blushed, she was really cute with her cheeks all pinkish. Yeah, why not ill show you some when you two visitâ I waved goodbye and entered the holo-lab where Luna was waiting.
âHello! Welcome to holo-programing, where we learn the basics of hologram technologies and try and create programs for a variety of uses. Oh, and that's the instructor sheâs an Alphiren.â luna pointed at a floating figure whose skin looked like I was staring at the galaxy. Her glowing eyes looked towards us she floated above the other students as if gravity had no effect on her and she swiftly landed next to luna and me. She looked at us. When I looked at her face and appendages I noticed she didn't have any features other than eyes. Not even hands or feet, her appendages just ended in points. When she rose her arm to greet me, a hand appeared out of thin air. âYou must be the Human, it is a pleasure to meet you,â she said, her voice seeming to echo faintly with each word she spoke. âLuna has told me of the reason for joining today's class. I welcome your visit any day should you chose not to join us. I shall leave you in Luna's care.â with that she rose up and hovered toward the front of the class
Luna nudged my elbow âThe Alphiren are the oldest race in the galaxy, they're also one of the founding races of the coalition.â she whispered to me as she led us to her workstation. âI didn't know they were a thing. The thing she did with her arm, what was that?â I asked in complete shock. âOh, I don't know there isn't a lot of stuff we know of the Alphiren. And im no expert in Alphiren-biologyâ Luna was obviously used to the Alphiren and was way more excited about humans. Luna grabbed one of the controllers and powered her holo pad. A small hologram of an alien animal appeared. âAnyways welcome to Holo programming, I guess I should explain what a hologram is.â she started to explain before I cut her off. âWait, no, I know what a hologram is it's a pretty basic concept, how about you just tell me what this cute animal is and what your gonna do with itâ âreally? Well thenâŚum this is a Prak theyâre a native animal from my homeworld. Within my culture, it is often a symbol of hope and prosperity for my people. The main assignment for this is to make an animation program for it that mimics the actions of the real thing.â Luna pulled out her school pad which she used to take notes and started going through them for something. âOh cool! what have you done so farâ Luna pulled up a storyboard that she drew up and gave it to me before starting her animation. It matched up perfectly with what she planned. The Prak hoped out of some bushes before sniffing around at the air. It then pranced about before jumping upwards where it grabbed some fruits off a tree branch and started eating before repeating. âYou know it kinda reminds me of a rabbit or maybe a fox from Earthâ Luna looked at me âhow so?â âwell I don't know how big they are but from how it acts and moves around it resembles them pretty close actuallyâ I responded pulling out my phone and looking up a picture of a rabbit before giving it to Luna.
She studied the picture for a bit before we went back to discussing the similarities between the two animals. After that, we started bouncing ideas back and forth on how to improve the animation and maybe adding stuff to the program itself. The bell eventually rang and it was about time we started normal classes again. We walked to class discussing more about rabbits and other animals that lived on Earth. We met up with Rivera in class and started to make a list of all the things they wanted to see and do while they visited.
