I got into HR after working for a really bad employer for 9 years. I was subjected to bullying and sexual harassment and instead of being supported when I filed a compliant my job was threatened. The blue color employees were treated like shit and subjected to racism and when reported nothing would happen so I decided to switch majors to HR Management so I could advocate for myself and others. But now I feel like I’ve gotten so far from that and I/HR is everyone’s punching bag and scapegoat.
I have worked for some great organizations too but I made the move to the public sector and it was the worst decision I have ever made. The people are awful to each other and no one is held accountable. They promised work life balance then I ended up literally doing 3 jobs while being shit on for not responding quickly and things taking longer while I worked 70 hours.
It just broke my spirit and I’ve lost all passion I once had which sucks I’m really good at what I do but I just don’t want to be doing it anymore.
For those that made a career change… why? How? And what too?
